To The Grid
Fluid pound destroys rod strings. Excess cycling burns equipment and cash. The Kraken System's integrated regenerative drive and pump-off control keeps every well running at the right speed — protecting your lift system and your bottom line.
A conventional pump-off controller does one thing when the well pumps off: it shuts the pump down, waits, and restarts it. Full speed or nothing — every cycle is a hard stop, an inrush start, and mechanical shock through the whole string.
The Kraken System reads a real downhole dynamometer card — computed from surface load and rod position, the same proven method the best controllers use. But instead of shutting the pump off when fillage drops, the regenerative drive rolls speed down to match inflow. The pump keeps producing, the rod string never gets slammed, and braking energy goes back to the line instead of a resistor bank.

On deceleration the motor acts as a generator, converting mechanical energy to AC.
→
Generated AC power flows back into the output inverter.
→
The DC bus holds and stabilizes the recovered energy.
→
The Active Front End converts stored DC into clean, low-harmonic AC.
→
Clean AC is fed back to the utility instead of wasted as heat.
The Kraken System ships as a single, pre-integrated UL 508A assembly. LH regenerative VFD, pump-off controller, motor protection, and Phase Connect cellular monitoring — wired, tested, and ready to bolt onto your pad.
No integrator. No separate enclosure. No field wiring between components. Optional phase conversion and no more oversizing drives or messing with braking resistors.
Fully integrated pump-off control for maximum uptime and production.
The pump slows to match reservoir inflow instead of stopping. Production stays steady. Mechanical shock is eliminated at both ends of the rod string.
By detecting low fillage before the pump runs dry, the Kraken System prevents the destructive hydraulic shock that causes rod failures and pump damage.
Surface dynamometer card displayed on the HMI and accessible remotely — diagnose rod load, pump fillage, and mechanical issues without pulling the well.
The active-front-end LH drive converts deceleration energy to clean, low-harmonic AC and returns it to the grid — eliminating braking resistors and saving energy.
Phase Connect lets you monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot every well in your field from a single dashboard — without leaving the office.
A suite of integrated protections including overload, phase-loss, and over-temperature with configurable trip thresholds — guards the motor and extends equipment life in harsh field conditions.
Every Kraken System panel is built in our Rapid City, SD facility under UL 508A listing — fully labeled, documented, and ready for installation inspection.
Every component in the Kraken System is a Phase Technologies product — designed together, integrated together, and supported together.

Low-harmonic, regenerative VFD — the power core of the Kraken System. Returns braking energy to the grid and meets IEEE 519 without external filters. Available 5–800 HP.

Cellular-connected field monitor purpose-built for oil & gas. View dynagraph cards, adjust speed, and receive fault alerts from any well in your field — no Wi-Fi required.

A touchscreen interface gives you full visibility into your well — surface dynagraph cards, real-time pump diagnostics, motor load, and fillage trends all in one place.
The Kraken Pump-Off Controller calculates a full downhole card by solving the 1D wave equation — using directly measured surface load and position as boundary conditions. It knows what the pump is doing at the bottom of the well.
Color touch screen built for the field — readable in direct sunlight. On-site well management without squinting at a panel.
Enter a few parameters and the controller is live. Rapid Start gets your well running in under 15 minutes — no specialist required on-site.
Full surface and downhole dynamometer cards on the keypad and remotely. Diagnose fillage, rod load, and mechanical issues without pulling the well.
Cellular field monitoring purpose-built for rod pumps and oil & gas operations. Monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot every well in your field from a single dashboard — no Wi-Fi, no service truck required.
