About AquaPhase™ Products
| |
A unique input module sets AquaPhase™ apart from other Variable Frequency Drives
Unlike VFDs with a diode bridge rectifier, the active switching
input module with L/C filter boosts DC bus voltage, producing an
output voltage significantly higher than the input line voltage.
The 480V output allows reduced wire size which saves money.
Electronic power factor correction reduces input line
harmonics common to diode bridge rectifiers, eliminating the
need for expensive input reactors and harmonic filters.
Installations easily comply with IEEE 519 standards for harmonic
distortion.
How does AquaPhase Compare?
|
Convert 240V 1-phase to 480V
3-phase |
Only AquaPhase boosts the input
voltage to save money on reduced wire size. |
Not available. |
|
IEEE 519 compliance |
Low harmonics on input.
Installations comply without harmonic filters. |
High harmonic content on input.
Extensive filtering required to comply and may not be
possible when VFD is used as a phase converter. |
|
Input line reactor |
Input line reactors are never
required. |
Diode bridge VFDs often require
a line reactor to protect the drive from damage. |
|
Outdoor enclosure |
Available in rugged outdoor 3R
enclosure made of powder coated, corrosion-resistant
galvanealed steel. |
Most are indoor rated only.
Outdoor installation requires integration by a UL 508 panel
shop. |
|
Phase conversion |
A purpose-built phase converting
VFD. No need to increase HP rating. |
Most are designed for 3-phase
input. HP rating must be doubled or tripled when phase converting. |
|
Easy-to-use interface |
Designed specifically for
pumping applications. Keypad allows simple operation
with familiar look and feel of HOA pump controls. |
Typically designed for
industrial automation with complicated controls, set-up,
and confusing manuals. |
|
Constant pressure water systems |
Only AquaPhase offers two types
of constant pressure water systems, analog or digital.
Simple set-up and operation with factory default
parameters that work in most applications. |
Not all VFDs support constant
pressure water systems. Most that do, require expensive
analog transducers and complex set-up. |

The AquaPhase Keypad
AquaPhase AP Series converters have many
advanced, easy to use features that can operate constant
pressure water systems, protect the motor from damage, monitor
load conditions, log motor run time, troubleshoot the system and
more.
The system is controlled through an
intuitive keypad with backlit LCD screen that displays
32-character text messages.

CONSTANT
PRESSURE WATER SYSTEMS
Only AquaPhase offers the choice of a digital or analog constant pressure system.
Both systems provide smooth, steady control of pressure in
response to fluctuating demand for water. Factory default
settings of the constant pressure parameters provide
satisfactory operation in most applications — simply install the
sensors, set the desired pressure and begin pumping. If enhanced
control is required, adjustable parameters allow fine tuning of
the system to meet the user's need.
Digital Constant Pressure System
- Uses affordable digital pressure sensors
- Requires a minimum of parameter adjustment
- Simple to install
Analog Constant Pressure System
- Provides more flexibility in tuning the system
- Extensive menu of adjustable parameters
- Default parameters allow quick setup
PRECHARGE MODE
Fills large plumbing systems at a slower pump speed to prevent
sprinkler head blow-off or burst pipes when the system reaches
the full point. AquaPhase automatically returns to normal
operation when the precharge interval is terminated.
DUPLEX PUMP CONTROL
AquaPhase is equipped with a duplex pump feature that allows for
integrated control of two pumps in the same water system. The
duplex pump feature alternates the pumps on a regular schedule
and can call on the standby pump to maintain pressure in high
flow conditions. No extra equipment is required — simply
configure both units as constant pressure systems and activate
the duplex mode feature. |

CLOCK TIMERS
Records motor run-time and drive on-time in hours. Includes a
resettable timer and a permanent timer for each.
FAULT LOG
Records the number of times each fault has occurred.
ADJUSTABLE PARAMETERS
Select values for a variety of parameters and functions
including:
- Output Voltage
- Automatic restart
- Motor overcurrent
